Founded in 1998 and received official Accredited Association Status in January 2000, Lethbridge Area Search and Rescue Association (LASARA) is a registered charitable organization dedicated to providing fully-trained volunteers to assist local agencies such as RCMP and Municipal Police Services, in ground search and rescue operations.
When called upon by the authorities to help in a search, our members are ready and able to be deployed into the field within hours. Upon setting up a base camp and command post near the point last seen or last known position, searchers are briefed by our experienced search managers about the subject and circumstances, broken into groups of three or more and spread out around the search area.
When located, the individual(s) is stabilized, secured and evacuated from the area, then taken to the nearest hospital.

In 1984, the Lethbridge Stargazers Club was formed and later, in 1988, was transformed into the Lethbridge Astronomy Society. Annual membership fees are just $50, with spousal and associate members fees just $25. We are a team of over 50 trained Crisis Support Workers and first responder who provide support during the first few critical hours after a crime or tragic event.
We are citizens from the community who have a willingness to help others and volunteer to receive approximately 45 hours of training by a civilian program coordinator.
We are at least 22 years of age and go through a strict selection process and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
We provide 24-hour service and respond to only those incidents that have been attended by the Police.
We provide an essential link between the Police and victims and are able to provide information regarding the status of investigations, court cases and trial dispositions. We even are able to forward information to investigating officers if needed.
We will attend court with victims and support them through their entire ordeal.
We provide information regarding Victim impact statements, Restitution and Financial Benefit programs.
We are conscientious citizens who take on extra training to provide free home security checks to the community of Lethbridge upon request.

The Prairie Dog Canine Rescue is a volunteer run organization based in Lethbridge, Alberta. We serve all of Southern Alberta but have rescued dogs from as far away as Nunavut. The dogs in our system come from all different kinds of situations - from the reserve dogs, owner surrenders to abandoned or stray dogs.
At any given time we have anywhere from 2 to 20 dogs. We are 100% volunteer run and as we have no facilities to keep our canine friends so they are put into foster homes where they are taught how to be welcome members of the community.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before the time of adoption.

VOLUNTEER LETHBRIDGE MISSION
Volunteer Lethbridge enriches the Lethbridge community by facilitating individuals and organizations in the support and advancement of volunteerism.
In 1981 the YWCA started the Lethbridge Volunteer Bureau as a three-year federally funded project. At the end of the funding the YWCA facilitated the transformation of the project to independent not-for-profit status.
Registered as a society in 1986, Renamed the Community Volunteer Centre in the late eighties. In 2000 renamed Volunteer Lethbridge.

HARBOUR HOUSE OUTREACH provides follow-up, referrals, counselling,advocacy and support services for families exiting the shelter or other women and children identified as "at risk" for family violence in the community who have not used our residential services.
Harbour House Outreach is a YWCA signature program.
This service provides accompaniment to court, police, medical, custody and access hearing and so much more. The counselling staff meet with over 1500 women and children in any given year.
There are no fees for this program.
